We stock popular sized aluminum dock plates on both 3/8 of an inch and ˝ an inch thickness as well. Some smaller units can ship UPS, but others ship common carrier. Dock plates add to the overall safety of your dock as well. Without a dock plate, you would have warehouse people walking over the gap between dock and truck carrying heavy loads by hand. This is an accident waiting to happen. With the use of steel dock plates, or aluminum dock plates, you can move your load in or out on a pallet truck, hand truck or Platform truck, and not worry about the gap, or a person straining with a load. People are not built for lifting, this is the entire premise of materials handling. All people’s lifting should be eliminated if at all possible.
Our dock plates are manufactured in the US by Bluff, and Vestil. Both are great manufacturers, and we are pleased to be master distributors for both. We also have access to the Magliner brand. Clearly, you need dock boards and plates; however, with safety and protection of the dock in mind, we humbly suggest other items as well.
Many accidents happen when trucks pull away from docks when workers are still working within the truck. This unfortunate and dangerous problem can be minimized by always chocking wheels or using dock locks, or at bare minimum, using stop lights operated by the dock hand working the truck in question. We suggest the trailer lock , as it is the most sure solution to this potential deadly problem. The lock grabs onto a truck’s ICC bar and will not release. The trucker can not physically leave the dock until the dock operator releases the lock. This solution is a few thousand dollars per door , but the life you save could be your own.
Wheel chocks are another lift saving device to be used when deploying an A Plus Warehouse dock plate. Insist that your dock personnel place wheel chocks on trucks tires. This way, it is very difficult to impossible for the truck to move until the chocks are removed.
Dock bumpers are used for the protection of your property – so they are an important consideration. If you let trucks bump into the concrete of your dock over and over, soon, you won’t have a dock to bump into. Dock bumpers allow the impact of the truck to be absorbed by the bumper material and not the dock. Can 300 dollars of bumpers save a 6000 dollar dock? We suggest you bet 300 dollars on it.
Safety, and customer service are always our concern at A Plus Warehouse – we look forward to providing you high quality dock plates, and other material handling equipment
